Private Company Investing Primers
New to private markets? Start with the fundamentals, then go deeper on pricing, structure, and risk.
What is pre-IPO investing?
Pre-IPO investing means buying shares in a private company before its initial public offering. With companies staying private longer, much of the value creation now happens before listing — and accredited investors can access it through the secondary market.
Getting started as an investor
Access is limited to accredited and qualified investors, and verification is required before you can transact. Understanding minimums, ownership structure, and what you actually hold matters before you commit capital.
Why invest in private markets?
Private positions do not always move in step with public markets, which can offer diversification. They also carry real risks — illiquidity, valuation uncertainty, and the possibility of losing principal. Both sides are worth understanding.
